Hockinson High School Wetland Mitigation and Preload

The Hockinson High School Wetland Mitigation and Preload Project provided wetland credits to accommodate an upcoming school expansion that would impact pre-existing wetland areas. To accommodate the impact on the existing wetland area, our crews constructed two category 4 wetland areas totaling 7.15 acres. This 7.15 acres of wetland was later planted with approximately 16,500 native wetland plants. To build up the preload area for the future school expansion, our crews transported approximately 70,000 cubic yards of material excavated from the new wetland sites onto the pre-load. As the project progressed, additional work was added to the project scope including haul roads for access to maintain the wetland areas, an additional access road to the future bleacher area, and a chain link fence around both wetland areas to minimize pedestrian traffic.
