The PDX Taxiway K project was a massive taxiway reconstruction due to cracking. Tapani worked through the tight security and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements to reconstruct twelve sections of taxiway within a five and half month schedule. We implemented a value engineering idea to create a sub-base for the pavement by mixing the project’s crushed concrete with the site’s native material to reduce time, resources, and cost savings of $150,000.
