Sharpe’s Corner

The Sharpe’s Corner Vicinity Improvements Project updated an existing SR 20 signaled intersection and bypass lane located near the popular beach town of Anacortes, WA in the span of just 3 months. With over 35,000 vehicles a day traveling at high speeds through the existing intersection, Construction of the Sharpe’s corner round-a-bout was essential for increasing the safety of the traveling public and surrounding businesses while also alleviating traffic congestion. The entire project consisted of crews and key subcontractors working 7 days a week, 24 hours per day to demolish the existing road, re-grade, update and install 2000 LF of storm sewer lines and associated structures, complete 2/3rds of a mile of shoulder improvements, install 2 new round-abouts, and all while maintaining traffic flow of up to 25,000 vehicles/day through the construction zone.
