Klickitat River Floodplain Restoration Phase 4

To restore Klickitat River’s historic floodplain and river processes between the confluence of the Little Klickitat River and Dead Canyon Creek, our crews modified and removed sections of a failing road that had been built within the river’s active floodplain. This required crews to cut, fill, re-slope and remove the existing roadway prism and also remove all culverts from the area. Working within a steep and narrow corridor confined by geological and physical property boundaries, our crews worked within a short in-water window to re-channel the streambank and construct large woody debris structures for stabilization.
