Kwoneesum Dam Removal

The Kwoneesum Dam Removal project involved draining 31 million gallons from the Kwoneesum reservoir, dismantling the 55-foot tall, 425-foot long dam, and restoring historical tributary channels in a single season. We prioritized environmental protection, including stream diversions, fish salvage operations, and dewatering with filtration systems. Tapani designed water dispersion systems to release water into vegetated areas to regrade tributary paths using recycled materials. Essential fish habitat structures were also installed throughout Wildboy Creek’s floodplain and canyon.
