Fourth Plain Boulevard is C-TRAN’s busiest transit corridor averaging nearly two million trips annually. Unfortunately, this has led to frequent overcrowding and delays. In response to these issues, C-TRAN launched the region’s first bus rapid transit system, The Vine, in January 2017. The Vine uses larger buses, level boarding platforms and other features in order to reduce travel time, improve reliability and control costs.
Tapani Inc. was selected as the general contractor to construct CTRAN’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Fourth Plain Corridor project. This project involved the construction of 33 bus stations extending from downtown Vancouver to the Vancouver Mall. It included road improvements, drainage improvements, utility relocation, traffic signals, illumination, road widening, median construction, landscaping and irrigation.
